Former dancing monkey Panjul finally makes a friend!
News
Panjul and Boy are the cheeky new duo in town and watching them bond is sure to give you the warm fuzzies.
A little after his rescue, Panjul would get triggered easily and hug himself to self-soothe. But your support is helping him slowly recover from a life of pain and trauma. And guess what? He’s made a new friend!
Watch Panjul and Boy’s newly formed bond that’s nothing short of iconic:
What is Panjul the dancing monkey’s story?
Panjul and 30 other long-tailed macaque monkeys were trapped in the cruel ‘Dancing Monkey’ trade in Indonesia. They were stolen from the wild as infants and subjected to a cruel training regime designed to make them perform for tourists on busy streets.
How did World Animal Protection help the monkeys?
With your support, our partners at Jakarta Animal Aid Network (JAAN Indonesia) successfully rescued Panjul and the 30 other monkeys, making a significant leap in our joint mission to end this trade for good.
Because of the pain and trauma these monkeys have endured there’s a long road ahead to ensure they have fully recovered and can hopefully be released back into the wild. With your support, this is not only possible – it's within reach.

Thank you for giving monkeys like Panjul a second chance at life.
