Thank you for helping orphaned elephant calves like Kapai
News
Thanks to kind supporters like you, more orphaned elephants in Northern Kenya are getting the second chance they deserve.
Our latest documentary, Return to the herd: the story of Reteti’s young giants, shares the inspiring work taking place at Reteti Elephant Sanctuary, where vulnerable elephant calves are rescued, rehabilitated and prepared for life back in the wild.
Watch the 15-minute documentary and see the difference you're helping make for elephants and their communities:
Created by our World Animal Protection team, the film takes viewers on an emotional journey from rescue to rewilding, shining a light on what’s possible when communities come together to protect wildlife.
The documentary showcases the dedication of the Indigenous Samburu community and vets-on-call who provide round-the-clock care for elephant calves recovering from drought, conflict, injury or poaching. It also follows the story of Long’uro, known as the “miracle survivor”, and highlights the sanctuary’s innovative Milk to Market programme, which helps local women earn an income by supplying surplus goat milk to nourish the growing elephants.
Our partnership with Reteti is built on a simple belief: wildlife belongs in the wild. Together, we're supporting community-led conservation that benefits both animals and people.
Thanks to your support, more young elephants can find their way home to the herd.
