You’ve given South Korean bears a reason to rejoice

News

In January 2022, the South Korean government signed an agreement with the Bear Farmers Association and local animal protection organisations that prohibits bear bile farming and bile extraction by 2026.

This landmark decision to end the cruel bear bile trade is the result of decades of work by World Animal Protection and Green Korea United. Thanks to your support, there is now a high-welfare animal shelter in the works designed to rehome rescued bears, and strict penalties for farmers who illegally breed bears.

This current generation of bile bears in South Korea will be the last to suffer, and it’s because you stood united with us.
