How you’ve helped animals around the world in 2018

News

With your support, we were able to protect dogs in communities from rabies, save animals in disasters, improve the lives of farm animals, and work to end the cruelty experienced by wild animals in the entertainment industry.

Here’s a snapshot of some of the achievements you’ve helped make possible this year:

  • More than 4,600 Kiwis joined our global petition of over 510,000 people urging KFC to end cruelty to chickens.
  • We held a clean-up at Tahuna Torea beach in Auckland, and Evans Bay Beach in Wellington on November 10. Thanks to our keen volunteers, we collected a total of 139 kilos of rubbish.
  • This year, we’ve been heavily engaged in our Wildlife Not Entertainers campaign. We released polling of attitudes in New Zealand to wildlife attractions and worked with travel companies to stop selling and promoting cruel attractions. To date, 214 travel companies around the world have agreed that elephant rides and shows are cruel and must end.
  • As part of our work to promote animal-friendly travel, we’ve also been helping elephant entertainment venues in Southeast Asia transition to elephant-friendly sanctuaries. With your support, and in cooperation with some of the world’s leading travel companies, we’ve pioneered genuine elephant-friendly tourism at Happy Elephant Valley in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

None of these achievements would have been possible without your support.

Thank you. Together we’re moving the world to protect animals.
