Thank you for protecting animals

How you’ve helped animals in 2025

News

Watch how World Animal Protection supporters helped farm animals and wildlife in 2025.

This year you’ve worked tirelessly to end the cruelty experienced by wild animals in fashion, entertainment and global wildlife trade, as well as improved the lives of farmed animals. Thank you!

Here’s a snapshot of some of the wonderful work you’ve helped make possible this year:

  • Over 4,000 of you wrote to Webjet to voice your concerns about the company offering low-welfare animal activities like elephant rides, orca shows and tiger selfies on their website, and they listened.
  • Showing strength in numbers, together, we sent an Open Letter to the Government opposing their sudden proposed changes to the Animal Welfare Act 1999 that would allow farrowing crates for mother pigs to be used indefinitely.

Webjet supports a more wildlife-friendly future

Thanks to your support, Webjet communicated their plans to develop an animal welfare policy in collaboration with us.

NZ Government turns their back on mother pigs

Together, we sent an Open Letter opposing their sudden proposed changes to the Animal Welfare Act 1999 that would allow farrowing crates to be used indefinitely.

  • You investigated captive koala venues in Queensland and exposed a decline in cruel koala cuddles as 4 tourism venues have stopped these interactions.
  • You helped us conduct interviews with more than 1550 households across 12 communities bordering Kruger National Park in South Africa. We found most community members living near the Park support humane, wildlife-friendly conservation for lions as opposed to trophy hunting.
  • You lobbied New Zealand Fashion Week to implement a wildlife-friendly policy by helping us advertise in the NZ Herald, place bold billboard ads around the event area, and teaming up with influencers to amplify our message.

Decline in koala cuddles in Australia

With your support, we’re shining a light on the significant decline in koala cuddles and exposing the Queensland wildlife tourism venues that are still choosing profit over animal welfare.

You lobbied New Zealand Fashion Week

You sparked powerful change for wildlife during New Zealand Fashion Week by amplifying our message and showcasing humane alternatives in fashion.

  • With our partner, JAAN, you continued to provide care and rehabilitation to the 31 dancing monkeys you helped rescue in 2024.
  • You helped rescue and care for baby bears like Luci and Serafim orphaned by the reintroduction of bear hunting in Romania.
  • You helped transformed a former camp in Thailand into an elephant-friendly venue where elephants like Roy Ngern and Gumrai formerly abused for entertainment and just be themselves.

Rescued monkeys get a surprise!

You gave 31 rescued dancing monkeys honey-filled banana leaves and honey logs. Take a look as they devour their special enrichments thanks to you!

Elephants say thank you!

The elephants of Elephant Forest in Thailand are loving their special new treats, as our team in Thailand celebrates the sanctuary’s exciting new chapter!

We’ve achieved so much because of you, and we can’t thank you enough!

With your incredible support, we were able help millions of vulnerable animals around the world because you.

On behalf of the animals, thank you. Together, we’re creating a world for animals without cruelty.

Will you protect animals?

Every animal deserves a life worth living – from captive lions used for trophy hunting to mother pigs in cages in factory farms.
